Cancellation Policy
At The Lobster Society, each retreat is intentionally kept small and carefully planned in advance. Because accommodation, venues, facilitators and other retreat-related costs are often committed well before the retreat begins, the following cancellation terms apply to all bookings unless different terms are explicitly stated for a specific retreat.
Booking Deposit
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place.
The standard deposit is generally €500, although the exact amount may vary depending on the retreat and will always be clearly communicated before booking.
Your place is considered confirmed once the required deposit has been received.
The deposit is non-refundable in the event that you decide to cancel your participation.
Remaining Balance
The deadline for payment of the remaining retreat fee will be specified in the information provided for each individual retreat and/or in your booking confirmation.
Failure to pay the remaining balance by the stated deadline may result in your booking being cancelled and your place being offered to another participant. In such cases, the deposit remains non-refundable.
Cancellation by the Participant
If you need to cancel after paying more than the initial deposit, the following refund policy applies unless otherwise stated for a particular retreat:
60 days or more before the retreat begins:
Any amount paid beyond the non-refundable deposit will be refunded in full.
30–59 days before the retreat begins:
50% of the amount paid beyond the non-refundable deposit will be refunded.
Less than 30 days before the retreat begins:
No refund is guaranteed.
In exceptional circumstances, The Lobster Society may, at its sole discretion, offer a partial refund, credit towards a future retreat, or another alternative arrangement. Any such accommodation is considered on a case-by-case basis and does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund or credit.
Transfer of Your Place
If you are unable to attend, you may request to transfer your place to another person.
Transfers must be agreed with The Lobster Society in writing before the retreat begins. The replacement participant must meet any participation requirements applicable to the retreat.
Any reasonable additional costs resulting directly from the transfer may be charged to the participant.
Cancellation by The Lobster Society
In the unlikely event that The Lobster Society cancels a retreat and is unable to provide the retreat as agreed, participants will be offered either:
- a full refund of the amounts paid to The Lobster Society for the cancelled retreat; or
- the option to transfer the amount paid to another retreat, where available.
The choice between these options will be offered to the participant where reasonably possible and subject to any rights required by applicable law.
The Lobster Society is not responsible for independently booked flights, transport, additional accommodation, insurance, visa costs or other expenses incurred in connection with attending the retreat, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing appropriate travel insurance as soon as your booking is confirmed.
Extraordinary Circumstances
Events outside our reasonable control may occasionally affect a retreat. These may include, for example, natural disasters, severe weather, government restrictions, public health emergencies, civil unrest, significant transport disruption or other unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances.
If such circumstances materially affect our ability to provide the retreat, The Lobster Society will make reasonable efforts to offer an appropriate solution, which may include rescheduling, providing credit towards another retreat or issuing a refund where required by applicable law.
Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory rights that participants may have under applicable consumer or travel law.
If the retreat can proceed as planned but a participant is personally unable to attend — for example due to illness, changes in personal circumstances, missed or cancelled flights, or other travel disruption affecting that participant — the standard participant cancellation terms above will normally apply.
Travel Arrangements
Unless explicitly stated otherwise for a particular retreat, participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel to and from the retreat destination.
The Lobster Society does not sell or arrange flights, travel insurance, visas or independent transportation to or from the retreat destination.
The retreat fee may include access to and stay at the private venue reserved for the retreat, as described in the relevant retreat information.
We strongly recommend that all participants obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering, where appropriate, trip cancellation, medical expenses, travel disruption, lost luggage and other unexpected events.
Changes to the Retreat
The Lobster Society reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the retreat schedule, activities, facilitators, venue arrangements or other elements where necessary due to operational, safety or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Minor or reasonable changes that do not substantially alter the overall retreat experience do not automatically entitle participants to a refund.
Where a significant change materially affects the retreat, we will communicate with participants as soon as reasonably possible and provide any remedies required under applicable law.

This Cancellation Policy is governed by Hungarian law, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights that may apply under Hungarian or European Union law.
